Roughly 1/2 Vietnamese and 1/2 Chinese - American raised if there was still a United States (That is to say, she was raised in/near US remains and English is her first language). There is probably a small percentage of other races in there, too. She has a Vietnamese name as a result of lingering tradition in who named her but she's not really a child of the culture.

How long has it been since the massive flooding/other events that caused the world to be the way it is now?

Hm. I'll either let this one come up on its own in the comic or answer it myself far later.

That's sorta the issue with a Q&A thread at this point. Hard for those asking to know what I can give answers to.

It's the next day, turns out Dang has sever hallucinatory based mental issues and was living homeless on a boat way before this went down.

Edit: and I swear if that turns out to be the case I'm never sarcastically predicting things about any form of media ever again.

I'm pretty sure that goes under the "asking for spoilers" header.

Besides, they are obviously anthropomorphic frogs.

If it isn't too personal to ask, what was the thought process when you started writing and storyboarding Derelict? More specifically, I remember seeing a lot of Glockenspiel concept art in your sketch dumps while Parallel Dementia was still ongoing, then after April the 18th your deviant art gallery reflects a pretty clear shift, wherein much of the extraneous art is devoted to Subject 101, Una, or Dang, and none to Glockenspiel. What drove the decision to create a completely new project, and what attracted you to the idea of a gritty apocalyptic setting, which is a setting at least slightly similar to PD?

You've probably been asked questions similar to this one several times at least, and since I haven't been able to find the answer while looking it's my bad, but a link to where you answered it the first time would be great.

That's a neat question.

There's a lot about incorporating bits of the PD setting or Nev's native setting I could go into, but in short the reason I chose Derelict, something unseen in my gallery, over something I'd already pondered with like Glockenspiel, is because it was wholly new.

Derelict became a chance to do something that I had no previous attachments to. The ties to old favorite characters and plot twists and setting rules that can mess with the works of many artists didn't have to hold me down. Characters could be added or removed as needed for the plot, rather than bending the world to fit the character. It was incredibly refreshing and so far has made the overarching story easier to manage, and the world I have created easier for me to understand.

I still want to do something with Glockenspiel one day, and now I'm less afraid to make the major edits to the cast and setting it may need. Hell, between the traveling story of Derelict, the over the top wacky 80s tribute that will be the collaborative webcomic Galactic Maximum, and the digital surreal world of Homestuck it's going to need to be rebuilt from nearly the ground up to avoid repetition or looking like I'm ripping off one of the big-names.

Depends how important their lizardly ways are to the overarching plot.

Are there jaws (or some king of support) under those things' scarves?

Also, how far apart is the current happening from the GOYA incident?

There is some sort of support, yes. We'll have to wait to see if it's jaws or gas-masks or tusks or more cloth or whatever.

It's been maybe a month or two.
The only sign I gave that it has passed is that the highlight in Dang's hair has moved down a little bit. The exact time's not that important really, so I felt no need to really define it here.
